At AdvisaCare, we provide hospice care for clients and families throughout Northern Michigan. Our team is based in Charlevoix and supports surrounding communities across the region with care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
Hospice can be a difficult topic to discuss, and families often reach out when they are unsure what the next step should be. Our role is to help answer questions, explain what hospice care includes, and provide support when a loved one is facing a life-limiting illness.

Hospice care is centered on comfort rather than curative treatment. Our team works with clients, families, physicians, and care partners to help manage symptoms, reduce discomfort, and support emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

When hospice may be appropriate
It may be time to ask about hospice when a loved one is experiencing frequent hospital visits, increased pain or discomfort, declining strength, changes in appetite, or difficulty recovering from illness or treatment.
Families do not need to have everything figured out before calling. Many conversations begin with a simple question: “Is it time to consider hospice?”
Understanding hospice care
There are many misconceptions about hospice. Hospice does not mean care stops, and it does not mean a family is giving up. Instead, hospice shifts the focus toward comfort, quality of life, and support for both the client and their loved ones.
Clients may still receive medications, supplies, equipment, nursing support, personal care, and treatment for conditions not related to the hospice diagnosis when appropriate. The care plan is reviewed regularly and adjusted as needs change.

Most hospice services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and many private insurance plans. Our team can help explain coverage, answer questions, and guide families through the process.
